What is the Pegasus Success Program?
- The Pegasus Success Program is a specialized 6 week program.
- It is offered to select students during the summer prior to their freshmen year.
- This program is administered by the office of the Student Academic Resource Center.
Who is my academic advisor?
- You meet with your academic advisor weekly, discuss your progress, answer your questions and guide you through your academic planning.
- You will continue to meet with your academic advisor throughout your first year at UCF.
- You will meet your advisor the first day of orientation.
What are the requirements of the Pegasus Success Program?
Courses and Grades:
- Complete two UCF college level classes (6 credit hours) with a grade of C or better in order to continue their enrollment at UCF in the fall.
- Selected sections of college level classes are reserved for students within the program.
- These courses are pre-selected to ensure that all Pegasus students receive the proper foundation for their college success.
Academic Support Components:
- All Pegasus students must participate in the weekly academic support programs.
- This is designed to enhance their learning skills and complete their courses successfully.
- These programs include the following: weekly study groups, tutoring, college success workshops, large group meetings, and academic advising meetings.
Housing:
- Pegasus students are encouraged to live on campus during the six week summer term.
Employment:
- To ensure student success in meeting requirements for fall enrollment, Pegasus students cannot be employed on or off campus during the 6-week summer term.
Attendance:
- Attendance is an important element of the program.
- Students will be denied fall enrollment upon fourth absence from a combination of:
- Classes
- Seminars
- Workshops
- Tutoring sessions
- Writing Center Consultations
- Academic advising appointments
- Supplemental instruction sessions
NOTE:
- Pegasus students must also attend a designated two day UCF orientation and half day Pegasus Welcome.
- At the conclusion of the program, students attend a Pegasus Closing Ceremony, to which family and friends are welcome.
What are the advantages of the Pegasus Success Program?
- On average, 97% of the Pegasus Success Program successfully completed the program.
- Pegasus Success Program receives individual academic support and advising throughout the year.
- Students learn their way around UCF’s large university.
- Students get to know the professors and academic advisors ahead of time.
- Students become familiar with campus resources within a more personable community of SARC!
