SI Leader Employment Application
What is Supplemental Instruction?
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support program utilizing peer-assisted study sessions to assist students with historically difficult courses. SI sessions are an opportunity for students to work together with other classmates to compare notes, discuss readings, ask questions, develop organizational tools, and prepare for examinations.
What are the SI Leaders' responsibilities?
SI Leaders are undergraduate students responsible for leading four, 50-minute study sessions per week for a designated course. SI Leaders attend course lectures, take notes, plan and facilitate SI sessions. The main responsibility of the SI Leader is to help students learn how to learn the course content by incorporating study skills into the SI sessions. SI Leaders are required to attend training sessions, maintain attendance records and accept and implement suggestions from SI supervisors.
